Are John Mayer and Katy Perry getting engaged? According to insiders, the notorious Hollywood womaniser is ready to settle down with his girlfriend of six months with Mayer reportedly shopping for rings before Christmas.

The pair went public with their romance in the summer and after a shaky start appear happier than ever after spending the Christmas and New Year break together. Mayer, who has dated Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston in the past, maybe known as bad boy but the singer has reportedly tamed him so much he’s convinced she’s “the one”, Heat magazine reports.

“John is serious about Katy, that’s for certain. He has never imagined settling down with someone, but he’s infatuated with her,” the reported insider revealed.

The Fireworks singer and her new beau are spending the holidays with Katy’s   family in the California beach town and if this picture is anything to go by it  seems things between the pair are really hotting up.

Not only did Mayer, 35, obviously agree to being snapped in a silly Santa costume, he has now apparently been properly approved by Katy’s parents and friends.

Though the pair have been dating for about five months – with a brief split in August – this ‘Santa Baby’ Twitter picture is one of the most public displays of affection between the pair yet.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: ‘They are seriously in love and exclusive.

‘John is surprised at just how cool and smart she is. John has proved he’s matured and learned from his mistakes . . . Katy is blown away.’

Singer / songwriter Mayer’s string of high profile exes include Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Taylor Swift and this is the 28-year-old’s first proper relationship since her divorce from  Russell Brand was finalised this summer.

The pair also decided to share some goodwill during their stay by stopping in at a local hospital on behalf of the Dream Foundation on Saturday.

The organisation helps to grant wishes for adults battling life-threatening illness.

After their visit, the Dream Foundation tweeted: ‘Gratitude to @KatyPerry @JohnMayer & Hudsons for rolling up their sleeves & serving our dream families. #DreamTeam.’

A source told People.com: ‘They’re happy together and with her family for the holidays. John really likes getting to know Katy’s family better.

‘They’ve spent a lot of time together and really enjoy each other’s company. John is entirely focused on Katy.’

It was also recently reported that John has designed a guitar to give to Katy as her Christmas present.

Katy Perry is hoping for an Oscar nomination next month. The singer’s hit single Wide Awake is on the shortlist of tracks eligible for a nomination in the best original song category. The 28-year-old hitmaker penned the track for her concert film Katy Perry: Part of Me.

She told USA Today the idea of a nomination is “like a dream’s dream”.

“When I was growing up and working on music, it was always a dream to win a Grammy, but Oscar was so far out of my dream sphere,” she wrote via email.

Katy said it would be an honour to hear her name among the nominees. The official list will be announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on January 10.

“This would be a nomination of a completely different caliber,” she wrote. “One that is more impressive than many other ones I’ve had. It’s interesting to step out of your playing field and to be recognized from a different angle,” Katy added.

The 2013 Academy Awards will be broadcast live in the US two weeks later on February 24.

Rumor has it that while Kaypers was enjoying a lunch date with current lover John Mayer at the exclusive Polo Lounge in El Lay, her ex hubby Russell Brand entered looking for a table…

And to avoid his searching gaze, onlookers claim Mz. Katy disappeared under the table like a frightened kitty cat before Johnny slapped some billz on the table so that the pair could hightail it outta there!

One restaurant insider reveals:

“As soon as Katy saw Russell, she hid under the table. When he was directed to one far away, she emerged. John threw some money on the table and they headed to the back door and their waiting car. Russell didn’t seem to see a thing but everyone in the restaurant saw what happened.”

We highly doubt Katy would do anything but hold her raven-haired head high during such an uncomfortable encounter, so we are mighty suspect about this whole hiding under the table allegation…

Although Russell and Katy were acting rather evasive when they happened to be at the same Lakers game in October, as apparently neither of them even acknowledged the others’ presence!

Ah well, we just hope these two get over their obvious issues eventually cause Hollywood is one small, cramped city simply STUFFED with potentially AWKWARD, unintentional meet-ups!

Rihanna is taking it up to the TV screens by making her own fashion TV show which is set to exclusively air on Sky Living HD this August. “Styled To Rock” is said to be the most A-List television show ever with each episode featuring a new celebrity.

Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, designer Henry Holland and stylist Lysa Cooper are all mentor on the show, which will run for ten weeks in the view to find the next big thing in the world of fashion.

Along with Katy, Cheryl Cole is also set to appear on the show. Also, the other celebrities that are apparently going to appear on the show include The Scissor Sisters, Pixie Lott, Rizzle Kicks, Tinchy Stryder, Little Mix and Little Boots. Katy Perry has some news for her Katy Cats. She just wrapped up production on a brand-spankin’-new music video. The singer tweeted about the shoot, teasing that the video will play some part in her forthcoming 3-D big-screen spectacle “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” out in July.

“3rd long ass day of shooting … the new music video!!!!! #workinggirl,” she tweeted late Wednesday. “About to shoot one of the last scenes for the music video … I have to pick a costume from the Cali Dreams Tour, which would u pick? #KP3D.”

While she didn’t specify for which track she was shooting the video, when she sat down with MTV News in March, she noted that she did have a video concept in mind for her Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection track “Wide Awake.”

“I know exactly what that music video is. I know exactly who is directing it. I know the art direction, the people, the narrative,” she explained. “And I had that idea while I was writing the song.”

In the same interview, Perry talked about the dreamy breakup track. “Well, there were two songs that I had from Teenage Dream that I couldn’t put on, it was ‘Part of Me’ and ‘Dressing Up.’ And then I knew we were doing the re-release and so I was like, ‘I got to get in the studio,’ because I can’t wait eight months to be able to put out this feeling that I’m feeling right now,” she said. “ ‘Cause God knows, it would take eight months to do another record. I couldn’t do it on the fly, to set up records it takes time.

“So I was like, ‘I’m getting into studio.’ I had two days to write and I wrote it with my regular crew,” she said of working with Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Bonnie McKee for the song. “Then I had two days to record. It was literally … I submitted the lyrics before I submitted the music because it was by the hair of my chinny chin chin that I put that song on the record. But I have a film that’s coming out in the summer that’s like a concert documentary. Not only did I write the song because I needed to flush that out of my system, but I wrote it for the film as well.”

Katy Perry tops the new list of nominees for the People’s Choice Awards, which will be handed out Jan. 11 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles during a ceremony to be televised on CBS.

The pop singer is nominated for seven awards, topped only by the collective effort of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” which picked up nine nominations.

Perry picked up nods for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Song of the Year (for “E.T,” featuring Kanye West), Favorite Music Video (for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)), and Favorite Tour Headliner. She also was nominated in two non-musical categories: Favorite Animated Movie Voice for her role as Smurfette in “The Smurfs” and Favorite TV Guest Star for her spot on “How I Met Your Mother.”

Among the other top nominees in the musical categories were Lady Gaga and Beyonce with five apiece and Adele with four.

The cat’s meow!

When Katy Perryannouncedlast month that she was launching a second to-be-named fragrance, her fans began to purr with pleasure.

On Friday, the singer (and devoted cat aficionado) announced that the new scent will be called “Meow” — the perfect pairing to her original perfume, “Purr,” and will hit Nordstrom stores exclusively in mid-November for $45 and $65.

“It’s a sister fragrance,” she explained to Women’s Wear Daily. “Purr to me was a little bit more floral, and Meow is a little bit more sweet. It was probably because of the California Dreams tour that it was more of the confectionary world, because everything I’ve seen for the last year has been like cotton-candy scented or huge peppermints or massive gummy bears.”

Perry, 26, has had quite the busy year. In addition to her massive California Dreams tour, she starred as Smurfette in The Smurfs in 3D this summer.

But as far as what’s next in beauty for the “Last Friday Night” singer, who already lends her name to OPI nail polish and the Proactiv skin-care line, she tells WWD that she’s following in the footsteps of her A-list role model.

“I think [Gwen Stefani is] such a great example of a woman who puts out quality products associated with her name,” said Perry. “That’s because she’s not shoving it down anyone’s throats. She has great taste, great timing and she’s got a cool style about her.”
